Marketing local events can be a considerable challenge for small businesses, organizations and community groups—especially with a limited budget and staff to help you do so. To increase attendance at your planned events for 2019/2020, you need to start marketing now—and Tourism Brantford can help you!
Brantford residents, organizations and visitors come to Tourism Brantford for information about local community events and festivals. Our social media, e-newsletters and blog posts highlight the wonderful things to do in Brantford, County of Brant and Six Nations of the Grand River, and each has it's own established following. The platforms mentioned below are great free advertising opportunities for local businesses, organizations and community groups, but also for residents to check out online and keep up-to-date with things to do in Brantford and surrounding areas.
What's On is an annual brochure that promotes local events and comes out in February of each year, promoting events from the beginning of March to the end of February. We distribute 15,000 of these across the city each year, so it's a great way to gain exposure quickly for your upcoming event. To have your events or festivals featured in the What's On brochure, you must submit your events to Sara, Arts & Culture Development Officer, at email@example.com by December 31, 2019.
Tourism Brantford is actively engaged on Facebook ,Twitter, and Instagram posting the latest community updates and news. Send us a private message, tag us @TourismBrantford on Facebook and Instagram or @VisitBrantford on Twitter to get your event shared through our social media accounts. Upon request, Tourism Brantford can also include your local event in an upcoming blog feature or e-newsletter. We currently publish 4 blogs a week covering local trends and events on the Discover Brantford Website. In addition, Tourism Brantford releases four e-newsletters a month: Discover Brantford, Arts & Culture, Industry Updates, and Sports Update. Subscribe to our e-newsletter here.
We regularly feature local businesses in blogs, but additionally, each month, the City of Brantford also recognizes a local artist for their work. You can nominate an individual to become a #FeaturedArtist by filling out a downloadable application form.
The City of Brantford also offers some paid marketing opportunities. Explore the Grand is a collaborative leisure and experience-driven campaign between the City of Brantford, County of Brant, and Six Nations of the Grand River. We print 30,000 copies of this annual guide and distribute locally as well as regionally. This guide is circulated at the beginning of April through the end of March of the following year. This magazine-style digest includes facts about our area, accommodations, restaurants, shopping, attractions, special offers, and much more.
