Family Day is Monday, February 20, and there is no shortage of activities for all ages around the City of Brantford.
Loonie Family Day at the Bell Homestead
From 9:30am to 4:00pm, bring your family for a $1 tour (children under 6 are free) of the site of one of history’s most significant breakthroughs: the home of Alexander Graham Bell. Good Family Day at Myrtleville House Museum
Bring your family for a tour of the historic Myrtleville home, which will include a blacksmithing demonstration, baking in the historic kitchen, and an art activity inspired by the National Trust of Canada’s theme for Ontario Heritage Week 2017: My Canada. Frosty Fest in Harmony Square
The 8th annual Frosty Fest winter carnival in Harmony Square is on February 19 and 20 from 10am to 4pm in Harmony Square in downtown Brantford. Frosty Fest is presented by Freedom House, and includes attractions for all ages - $2 pancake breakfast, professional ice carvers, horse-drawn carriage rides, an artisans’ bazaar, a street midway, free skating, and more. Family Fun Fair at TB Costain SC Johnson Community Centre
Head over to the TB Costain SC Johnson Community Centre from 10am to 12pm for games in gymnasium, “Musical Motion” – a music and movement program for infants and young children with Jane Flanders, and “Fantasy Faces” by Helena. The activities are appropriate for children ages 7 and under, and admission is $2 per family or a non-perishable food donation for families in need in our community. Activities at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre
Burn off some steam with a wide variety of fun activities from 11:30am to 6pm at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. Swim, play basketball, or enjoy a free skate (presented by RBC) with your family. Make sure to take some time to meet award-winning author Zig Misiak who will be there to sign his children’s books. Families receive $2 off of Family General Admission on Family Day. Did you know? Family Day was first observed in Alberta in 1990. The purpose of the holiday was to recognize the importance of the home and family values held by the pioneers.
