Brantford and its surrounding areas have a long and prestigious history of sporting excellence. The Brantford and Area Sports Hall of Recognition, located in the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, proudly recognizes hometown athletes and sport builders who have achieved the highest standards of excellence in their chosen sport and whose contributions have been exemplary and significant.
The 3,000 square foot space is currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that doesn’t mean you can’t visit the Sports Hall website to take a virtual tour and explore the great Inductees and Honourees, both Individual and Teams, who have made an enormous impact to the community at large. With so many options to explore, it’s a great way to learn about the Sports Hall until it is safe to visit and experience the space yourself.
The physical space features Inductee artifacts and memorabilia displays, the Honour Wall of Recognition, an Interactive Inductee touch screen zone, Trivia Game and Broadcast Booth as well as an interactive Trivia Game and Broadcast Booth, Mini Theatre and Special Tribute area for Wayne Gretzky and his family.
Each year, the Sports Hall welcomes new Inductees and Honourees to bring their story and history to a larger audience. Recent years have also included video interviews with the Inductees to help understand their sport legacy and path to the Sports Hall. Visit and subscribe to the Sports Hall YouTube Channel for past inductees and videos of the grand opening of the space in 2014.
The Sports Hall is the crown jewel of the local sport community in Brantford and area recognizing the training, dedication and perseverance of those inducted. So take a moment to explore their achievements online until the space reopens and you can experience the greatness first hand.
