Celebrate the holiday season at Bell Homestead

Celebrate the holiday season at Bell Homestead

As we welcome the bright colours and cooler temperatures of autumn, Bell Homestead National Historic Site is preparing for a traditional Victorian Christmas of family, music, and delicious food with present-day precautions.

On Saturday, November 28th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the Homestead kicks off its Holiday Season with its annual Holiday Bake Sale. The Exchange Café and volunteers will offer a plethora of homemade cookies and squares. New this year, baked goods are to be pre-ordered by November 21st by calling the museum at 519-756-6220 or emailing bellhomestead@brantford.ca. To view the list of scrumptious treats, please visit the Exchange Café area on the Bell Homestead website, call or email the museum. Pick up your items between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on November 28th and pay by Visa, Mastercard, or Debit. Cash will not be accepted. The Exchange Café will be open for coffee, tea and a bite to eat. Those looking for unique stocking stuffers or gifts will find crafts, jewelry, books, and vintage china and quilts at The Phone Booth, the Homestead’s museum store.

Think you’ve seen the Bell Homestead in the best possible light? Visit the gorgeous property for a Christmas feast for the senses at their “Candlelight Christmas Celebration” on Saturday, December 5th and 12th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Eight one-hour pre-booked tours through the Bell’s home and Henderson Home will be offered to guests, amid Victorian decorations and the soft glow of candles and oil lamps. Seasonal music in the drawing room, treats in Eliza Bell’s kitchen and a Christmas scavenger hunt for kids will enliven everyone’s Yuletide spirit. Both The Exchange Café and The Phone Booth Museum Store will be open.  Admission is by donation.  Tours must be pre-booked in advance by calling the Homestead at 519-756-6220. Tours will be available to a maximum of five individuals at a time. Pre-screening will be undertaken upon arrival and guests will be required to wear masks while at the museum.
