For 20 years, the Bell Homestead Annual Barn Sale has been the place to find unique treasures including household items, furniture, clothing and those indescribable oddities that the most imaginative minds will find a use for. This year’s sale takes place on Saturday, May 23,2015 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. The community and the site’s membership donate all items for sale which welcomes 150 to 200 people each year.
“The Annual Barn Sale is a great way for the community to support the Bell Homestead with donations of saleable items being reused rather than disposed of and generating funds that help with our great community programming,” says Brian Wood, Curator, Bell Homestead National Historic Site.
The revenue generated from the sale funds programs and special events such as the Hallowe’en Fun Fair and Melville House by Moonlight Christmas Celebration. The funds are also used for special projects such as the publication of the Bell Letters series of books. The staff at the Exchange Café will be on-hand will be on-hand with fresh coffee, tea and baked goods for sale.
Saleable items are currently being collected for the event. Those wishing to make a donation may drop their items off at the Bell Homestead, 94 Tutela Heights Road, or call 519-756-6220 to arrange for pick-up.
