What's The Digital Main Street Program?

It can be difficult to keep up with all the changes in technology, especially if you are a business owner trying to stay connected to your customers. The Brantford-Brant Resource Centre (BRC) is seeking to raise awareness about the Digital Main Street Grant that is available to help small businesses in Brantford improve their online capabilities.

A $10,000 grant from the Ontario government was received by the BRC to establish a Digital Service Squad, which consists of trained experts who will visit, discuss, and assist business owners by assessing their business’ digital-readiness and set up Google Business, at no cost. The Digital Service Squad can also help with back-office systems like payroll and inventory.

There are three main features included in the Digital Main Street program.

ShopHere

This offers participants a free Shopify website for 90 days and hands-on training to set up, launch and market an online store so they will continue with a successful e-commerce channel. For more information about this program and the link to apply, please visit digitalmainstreet.ca/shophere.

Digital Transformation Grant

This grant is only available to downtown businesses with a commercial location. After working on a comprehensive plan to guide their digital transformation, the business may be eligible for a $2,500 grant to increase their online presence. There are some eligibility requirements and restrictions. For more information please visit digitalmainstreet.ca/marketing-new-economy.

Digital Service Squad

The Digital Service Squad Grant program provides training and advisory support to small non-chain businesses with a commercial location. As a business owner, they will be connected with a local professional who will provide one-on-one guidance to improve their online presence.

If you know you want to adapt and grow your business, but you don’t know how, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Reach out to the Brantford Resource Centre and contact Mae Legg, Senior Business Consultant, at 519-756-4269 or via email mlegg@brantford.ca to start your journey to online success.
