Help Mayor Davis Fix the Clock Tower

Help Mayor Davis Fix the Clock Tower

Our community is growing, so the City of Brantford is making exciting plans to grow with it. Currently, City of Brantford employees are spread out across several different facilities throughout the city. The move to a new consolidated City Hall in early 2021 will actually be much more cost efficient for the City to operate than our current accommodations model.

In addition to long term cost savings, we’re also moving to better serve our residents. A key benefit of consolidating our services is that we will be able to offer citizens a one-stop access point for all services making it more convenient to take advantage of the City’s 200 plus programs and services.

The high-profile clock tower located at the top of what will become the City's new "City Hall" at 70 Dalhousie Street is an iconic part of Brantford's downtown landscape and our city's history. Built between 1913 and 1915, the building was originally constructed as a federal post office with a working clock and bell in the tower. Thousands of long-time residents and admirers of the city already know and appreciate the historical significance of this building and its unique features.

Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis says he’s “on a mission to restore the clock and bell within the tower to working order before the building becomes the City's new City Hall.” The repairs needed include restoring the clock faces, panes and caulking as well as the clock hands, and mechanisms.

“This is such an iconic focal point of the downtown and an important part of our history”, added Mayor Davis. “I really hope that people will join me in supporting this effort. All donations, big or small are very much appreciated.”
