Attractions Ontario 'Partnerships and Packaging' Workshop Summary

On January 16, 2020, Attractions Ontario, in partnership with Tourism Brantford, delivered a free Partnerships & Packaging workshop at the Brantford Visitor & Tourism Centre. We were excited to welcome Phil Casey, the Director of Business Development at Attractions Ontario who has been immersed in the Tourism industry for nearly 20 years. During his time with Attractions Ontario, Phil has been asked to advise attractions and organizations such as Sun Life, Golf Links, Regional Tourism Organizations, Destination Marketing Organizations, and Universities and Colleges across the province. In the most recent Tourism Summit, he was awarded the 2019 Tourism Champion of the Year award. Congratulations Phil!

Phil engaged with organizations from the City of Brantford, County of Brant and Six Nations of the Grand River while discussing who to partner with, the value in partnerships, how to approach packaging and why packaging works. At the end of the presentation, everyone was welcome to ask questions and bring up challenges and opportunities they see within their community. How do we get visitors to spend time outside of the hotels when they stay for tournaments? When visitors are travelling, what information are they looking for when visiting a new city? How can we reach a larger market? What have other businesses done to take their attraction further? Adrienne Carter, Manager of Destination Development & Finance with Hamilton Halton Brant Regional Tourism Association (HHBRTA) added some great points about what they do for the region and how businesses and attractions can better connect and market with them. The workshop concluded with time for networking with other industry professionals.
